camp games?
hey everyone! ok, so over the summer, i am working with kids in the 1st or 2nd gradeish and i was wondering if anyone out there has any good games to play; really easy to understand, somewhat fun and can just waste 10 or 15 minutes with the kids in between activities. any ideas?

- I remember playing a game called Blob when I was a little girl. It's similar to Tag. Someone is "it", everyone runs away from this person, when "it" touches someone they hold hands and continue to run around trying to get everyone else. Whenever anyone gets touched they have to hold hands with the last person in line, creating the Blob. The last person to get tagged is the winner. A great way to get rid of some of their never ending energy! =) I just thought of one more which would be good if you don't want them all running around. I used to work at a preschool and I would do this while we were waiting for lunch. We would all sit at our tables and I would make up the beginning of a story. I would then stop and let the first child continue the story. We would go around the room so each child had a chance to add their own part of the story. It was very interesting to see all of their imaginations come to life! I would usually start my story with us all being together on an airplane heading to..... They would all be able to then decide where we would go next. =)
- "the underwater game" draw two lines that are about 10 feet in difference. Make one person the whale. All the other kids have to start behind one of the lines (they all start at the same line). They are the fish. The whale chants "All the fishies in the deep blue sea try to swim past me!!" The fish(other kids) try to run to the other line without the whale tagging them. If the whale does tag a fish...then the fish becomes seaweed. They have to stand exactly where they were tagged and they cant move. Now the fish try to run back to the same other line. The seaweed must not move and he/she stretches out his arms to try to catch the other fish. This continues until there are only two fish left and all the other fish have turned into seaweed. The whale runs around trying to catch the two fish and the seaweed try to touch them as they run by. The last fish to get back saftely to the other line wins the game and then is the whale!! oh yea...it might just be eaiser to use chalk to draw one large box. the the children cant go outside the boundries and if they do...they must stop right where they came out of boundries and be seaweed.
