Camping Out Ideas
Anybody know any camp songs or outside games for 5-9 year olds?

- A good game is called Silent Walk. Everyone has to hold hands and cross a balance beam, a narrow path, ect. Somewhat narrow line sorta thing. Make 4 people blindfolded and 2 sets people's legs together. They have to get everyone across without talking (only the blindfolded can talk). If anyone falls, you have to start over. Be sure to time them. Scavenger hunts are good!

(I said a bean burrito, soft taco, nacho supreme! ---------------------------------------------------------- Here are some simple games: -------------------------------------- --water balloon toss -------------------------------------------------------- -red rover (kids divide into even teams and each team holds hands in a long row facing the opposing team. team 1 will say "red rover, red rover, send (opposing team mate) on over. the one being sent will run from team 2 and try to crash through them one and break the link. if they do break it, they join team 1. each team gets to do this until the team with the least people wins.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -have a scavenger hunt (kids can collect pine cones, hidden objects, rocks, etc. first one to return with all objects wins!) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- another song: "worms" nobody likes me everybody hates me i guess i'll go eat worms long thin slimey ones short, fat juicy ones itsy bitsy fuzzy wuzzy worms (alternate ending; slightly gross, though!) first you bite the head off then you suck the guts out then you throw the rest away long thin slimey ones short fat juicy ones itsy bitsy fuzzy wuzzy worms! ----------------------------------------------------- i dont like that song, though, but its fun to sing. ------------------------------------------------------------- here is a fun song from Spongebob: 'Campfire song" lets gather round the campfire and sing our campfire song our c-a-m-p-f-i-r-e s-o-n-g song and if you dont think that we can sing it faster then youre wrong but itll help if you just sing aloooooong! c-a-m-p-f-i-r-e s-o-n-g song c-a-m-p-f-i-r-e s-o-n-g song and if you dont think that we can sing it faster then youre wrong but itll help if you just sing along (the song is repeated several times, and it gets faster and faster each time it is repeated) ------------------------------------------------------------------ -play hot potato! (play or sing a song while kids sit in a circle passing around and objects of your choice; when you chose to stop the music, the kid holding the object is eliminated. keep playing until one player is left in the circle. --------------------------------------------------------------------- -hide and seek is a classic! -------------------------------------------------------------------- -try Simon says : every one stands in a circle. the leader of the group gives commands, but kids can only follow the command if you say "simon says..." first. for example; say "simon says....touch your nose". anyone that does not listen is out. if you say "jump up and down" anyone that listens is out. the last person left is the winner. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -"lets go camping": camp leader says "lets go camping; i'm gonna bring ____(something that starts with the first letter of their name) what are you gonna bring?" the games goes clockwise around a circle with every kid naming an object that starts with the first letter of their name. no objects can be repeated, and when an object does not start with the letter of the kids name, that person is out. last one left wins. -------------------------- ------------------- --------------- -------------- the complex version: two people are in on the joke; you and one person of your choice. you say you will bring an object that starts with the first letter of your name, but the rest of the players do not know the rules. first person to catch on wins! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- -red light, green light: all kids stand at a starting point; camp leader stands as far away in front of them as they want. camp leader will say "green light" and kids will walk until you say "red light". if you say red light and some one moves at all, they are out. first person to make it to the finish line wins. ------------------------------------------------------------------- i hope those helped!!
