  6. in army stores sell dry food & the tates good for camping
  7. marshmallows
  8. 2 slices of bread. 3 tsp peanut butter. Use a butter knife to spread the peanut butter on one slice of bread, then put the other on top of it.
  9. plenty of weiners and pork and beans and eggs (combine them differently and you have breakfast, lunch and dinner. take bisquick and you can make dough. get either a thick branch and put the dough on the end and put over the fire so that when it's done it is like a bread cup, and put food in it (such as weiners mixed with pork & beans), or you can roll the dough into long snakes and wrap them around thinner tree branches and make "razy bread sticks). also, take apples and brown sugar (or bananas and brown sugar). core out the apple, pack the hole with brown sugar, and wrap in aluminum foil and place on the coals (not flame) for about 3-4 minutes (or peel the banana, slice and put the brown sugar in the middle.) make sure your food is out of reach of critters (you can put into a seperate airtight containers, or put in a burlap sack and hang from a tree. have fun
  10. Let's see here. Dry things are good, but you have to consider something to go with them. There are mixes, like rice-a-roni, mac and cheese, stove top stuffing, and ramen noodles that are easy to fix and taste okay. You can cook plain pasta or rice and season them them with dry herbs or seasoning packets. You can do wonders with Hidden Valley Ranch mix and there are several other kinds of seasoning blends available. Like mentioned by someone earlier, pancake mix is good to have along also. Be sure to use the kind that just requires water. I don't know if you're going to have room for or be able to bring along meat, but ground beef or turkey will go along with just about anything you can put in a pot. The same goes for boneless chicken breasts. Of course, there are canned meats, like tuna, chicken, crab, vienna sausage, and deviled ham. It all depends on how much weight you want to carry around with you. Of course if you don't mind paying $25/lb for beef jerky, that's always a lightweight alternative for meat. Have fun.
  11. I am big in camping and i find that hotdogs and foods like that don't work because they need to be refrigerated and a cooler is hard to carry. I like to take foods like rice, oatmeal, rramen noodles are very cheap and easy. They also have bacon out now that it fully cooked and just needs to be heated up and does not require refridgeration it comes in very handy. You can also take fruits like apples because they don't take up to much space. Do not eat more than one MRE a day if you day because they contain 4,000 calories and are meant to last a whole day.
  12. Curry Couscous (Low Sodium/Vegetarian): 3/4 cup couscous 2 Tbl. coconut cream powder 2 Tbl. dried veggie flakes or freeze dried vegetables 2 Tsp. curry powder (if you aren't used to curry, you can use less) 1/2 Tsp. ginger powder Put all items in a quart freezer bag. In camp add 1 1/4 cups boiling water, stir well, seal and put in a cozy for 5-10 minutes. Stir and enjoy. I like adding a 3 oz. can of chicken, some chopped unsalted peanuts (carry in a ziploc snack bag) and even some coconut (use snack bags). Serves 1 or 2 if you add a can or pouch of chicken to the meal. If you don't know about cozy cooking click here: http://www.freezerbagcooking.com/
