- Anywhere by a body of water wether if its a river or lake because where there is water, you can fish, swim, or if you still are like a kid play in the water! Or you can (that is if you do have them) let your kids play in the water!
- if you camp where there are trails you can hike, take walks around campground, play cards, board games, carry a book or magazine to read if weather turns bad, on a clear night do some star gazing ,build a fire roast hot dogs and marshmallows and you can swim if there is a lake, river or body of water nearby
- ..i couldnt get an idea of your out door savvy from your avitar..or your question, so i assume 'camping' is a short haul, sleep outside, not too primitive, minnimal phisical type weekend thing.. Tents these days have 'rain fly's' with them, and that is a far more versitel item than folks give credit too..wind break - privacy - shade - food storage from bears [ hoisted into hight above there reach] and a throw cover if a shower happens. Lots of stout cord or string is always handy...you can get prety creative with a bunch of cord and some ingenuity. A knife with a fixed blade, and a folding pocket knife are a must..it's good to have ether one, oposed to wanting one and not haveing.. A role of toilet paper and a coffee can and a pint of alcohol makes a excelent heater for a frosty morning...thats ALWAYS nice... it will burn for hours too. just put it on something non flamable..! Kids like feeling prepared {no foolin..!} and will apreciate some token of a survival kit..prepared for each one individually...keep it simple..a candy bar, flashlite, whistel, string, bandaid, ...you know the stuff... Night time is 'fire light' and story's..bone up on some camp tails..you wont regreat it. The galaxie is a calender, a clock, a compus, and an almanac to someone liveing under it intimately... If you are more a person looking for seclusion, than a weekend sleeping in a parking lot somplace, find a site with some natural aminitys.. you know, wood, wind break, water, weather worthy... Those little candels and some dixie cups around camp make great 'darkness defenders' if ya got todlers with you..the night is a BIG thing when you have never been out in it befor. And finely...if you pack it in...pack it out. What better opertunity to teach..and communicate ..and learn about one another is there>>?
