Do you have any ideas for a camp -out party?
My 3 children are having a camp - out with a big birthday party next month. I'm looking for all the ideas I can get about games to play, foods, themes, goodie bags, decorations, etc. Do you have any? (Please keep in mind that we will be spending tons on the campsites and gifts...so nothing outrageously expensive.) Thanks.

- A big part of the camping experience is the great food! You can grill burgers at home, and we like to try out new recipes when we're camping. We tried this recipe for campfire fajitas last weekend and they turned out great! For the kids, you might want to substitute the can of beer in the marinade, though. Non-alchoholic would work, I'm sure.
- A good theme is Hawii. Hand out leis and give the girls hula skirts.
- Some fun camping games/activities are flashlight tag, manhunt, and telling spooky campfire stories. Before it gets dark, have a Camping Loot Hunt. Fill a pillowcase with lots of camping goodies (glow sticks, glow necklaces, flashlights, midnight snacks, matching bandannas, water bottles, etc.), and tie it to a tree hidden in the woods. Map out coordinates in your yard, give the kids a compass, and as a team have them go on a hunt for "camping loot" that you've hidden. They'll love finding camping goodies that they can enjoy through the night! Use the goodies from the loot hunt for their goody bags (water bottles, flashlights, glow sticks, etc). For food, trail mix, S'mores, and hot dogs on a stick would be great! You could even do foil dinners for a neat twist. As far as decorations go, let Nature take care of that for you! If you have trees, crickets chirping and starry skies, you're all set! The only thing(s) you'll need to provide are the tents, a campfire, and logs (or folding chairs) to sit on. If you want to get creative, post a few signs..."Don't Feed the Bears"...or something along those lines. Check out http://www.Passion-for-Parties.com/campout.html for an entire page on campout parties. There's a very cute cake on there, too. Have fun!
