What are good summer camp arts and crafts/games for ages 4-12? (BE SERIOUS)?

I am working at a summer camp as the head counselour and am a little nervous. I was wondering if somebody would give me some ides for arts and crafts plus games to play....please!!!!!! this is so urgent i really need help. please be serious and dont leave stupid stuff on here!~!~!~!

1. how about going to the library and checking out some books on arts and crafts....
2. I always liked to go on scavenger hunts as a child, along with capture the flag, and try making those water bottle rockets, the're fun for kids that age. Maybe making something like a dream catcher, it will give them something to take home, and remember their trip to the camp.
3. When I was in camp, we made those bead necklaces and those keychain things you can weave... we also made anything and everything out of popsicle sticks. Games... no clue... im sure there is a card game that the kids play atm, like yugioh, or something
4. Boys and girls? I have 6 grandchildren ages 5-11. They love to paint.(anything) On a sheet of construction paper cut into 8 X 11, let them paint their hand and put it on the paper. (for mama) let them write their name, age and date on it. Camp reminder. Also get sticks, pine straw, rocks and lots of glue. Tell them to use their imagination. Hope this helps a little.
5. ok play all the old fashioned stuff, it still is good. (capture the flag, freeze tag, etc.) Have them do some improv for others as audience in the camp. Storytelling, you would be surprised what good storytellers children are. Pick specific art projects, keep them simple, such as tie-dye or show them how newspapers were made in the old day ie, etching. 7. I am the top answerer in the hobbies and crafts category because I look in the search box on Yahoo, Google, and Yahoo!Answers and I find all the answers for these questions. My advise is that you will find hundreds of great answers if you will do the same. See the search lists I have provided below.
8. thicket can keep kids going for ever, its jsut like hide and seek except the kid who is it can't move and has to point at the other kids who have to be able to see the kid who is it. Painted rocks always work for kids. Boys really like to draw things like pirate ships especially if you keep asking questions about their pirate ships. I was an arts and crafts director for 5 years at a summer camp. The main thing is that you have got to be into whatever you are doing, if you aren't all in the kids won't be. For younger kids it has to be simple like painted rocks or pirate maps ( have the make a map with crayons, paint over it with tempora paint and then wrinkle it up when the pain is still wet) Older kids like to do things with their hands more, like gods eyes, hemp necklaces, puppets, masks. A great time waster is techno song. You teach a couple groups of kids all different noises to beats like Uns uns, and then have them do it at the same time. Its fun to act things like meowing.
9. I was a camp counselor and all of the other counselors used to steal my Arts and Crafts Ideas so I guess they were cool. I had a group of all girls aged 7. Here are some things that we did: colored small wooden shapes with markers glued them together, added gems, etc, glued them to magnets Made Spiders out of styro balls that they colored, added black chennile stems for legs and google eyes. Had them do a basic B&W line drawing for project on day one, then day two, I had them, "color" in their drawings by gluing-on cut-up construction paper, like a mosaic. Tie-dyed shirts Did the poem and handprint thing. I am having trouble remembering much more, it was like 12 years ago. : ) If I think of more, I will add. you could do potato painting, cut shapes of out of potatoes or sponges, dip in paint and stamp shapes onto paper Theme days, like your fav disney character, animal, etc dress like that, and do related songs, activities. PJ Day would be fun, watch a movie and have popcorn, etc.
