Camping Out Ideas

Fun summer activities for different ages???

I was wondering if anyone had different ideas for my children to do cheap with me during the summer.. The thing is I have an 9 year old girl and 2 and 4 old boys... My daughter sometimes gets upset cause there are things she wants to do and we can't because of the younger ones... My 9 and 4 will be in summer camp for a few hours a day.. But it ends at 2... So I am trying to think of some fun thing all can enjoy.... Thanks so much....

  1. Find a place in your town that offers swimming lessons. Your daughter can free swim or take an older class while the 2 year old can do mommy and me and the 4 year old can take a toddler swim class.
  2. My boys are 9, 7 and 3 and I'm pregnant with a little girl. The same kind of thing happens in my house. My older two want to do one thing but we can't because of the little one. At the beginning of every summer, I got out to the dollar or art store and get beads, sidewalk chalk, different types of colored glues, foam pieces, string, noodles, paint, little model airplane kits etc. I buy tons of stuff and it has never cost me more than $25 for the entire summer. My boys LOVE to do arts and crafts and the best thing is, all three of them can do it and will do it for hours. I've taken them to parks, set up the hose in the backyard, we made a scrap book one year (i let them take pictures), planted flowers, gone swimming, cooked, baked. I also take a couple days during the summer, hire a babysitter for the youngest and take my older two out to do something. Then another day the older two will go to friends houses or something and i take the baby to go do something. It's hard to find a whole lot of stuff that will allow both the oldest and the youngest to be entertained at the same time, but they'll grow. Best wishes and good luck! =]
  3. bubbles, sidewalk chalk, jump rope, swings, park, hide and seek, swimming, coloring, arts and crafts, baking....the list is endless.
  4. Familyfun.com Usually has some great crafts as well as great easy recipies. Maybe the 9 year old could help make a sncak for the little ones while you do a craft with the smaller ones and that will keep them all busy
