Camping Out Ideas

going away gift ideas? help please?

So my guy friend is leaving to go out west (United States) for the whole summer at the end of May, and I had the idea that I would compile a small going away present for him. It has to be small so that it fits into his suitcase in case he chooses to take it along (he's flying out). Perhaps the gift has to do with surviving in the west or relates to all the wonderful moments we have shared. I don't want to give him anything over the top or lovey dovey. He's into: hiking, the outdoors, acoustic guitar music (he plays a guitar & sings), Superman, the concept of courage (he has a tattoo on his shoulder that is a lion to symbolize courage), orienteering, and backpacking. He has a big appetite. He wears AE clothing. He's going to be traveling around to different states to be a camp counselor. So do you have any gift ideas for his going away present? He leaves town on May 26th. hey the painting idea is neat, i checked it out, but i am kind of looking for a gift that is under $50... i will be entering college at the end of the summer and i don't have too much extra money.

  1. hi i think you can give them oil painting from their photo, turn their photo in oil painting it will create nice impression on them. i think this site may help you, Source(s): Check out this site: http://www.portrait2000.com The prices are reasonable and the outcome is amazing.
  2. Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing: Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it! The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle. Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard. Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.
  3. See if you can find a necklace with a lion or a lions head on it.
  4. Maybe a wrist watch or pocket watch . It would be something he could use and think of you often whenever he looks at it . Pocket watches have protective covers with decorative images on them , perhaps you might find one with something resembling a lion that would touch him personally .
  5. a camera to capture the summer if he dosnt have one.
  6. . He is going for less then three months so do not burden him. I am not a Christian but my Girlfriend gave my a Saint Christopher coin. He is a patron saint for travelers. We have parted ways a long time ago but I still have this coin.
