My boyfriend asked me to go camping with him and his family, I don't want to look like an idiot! How do I survive it?

- camping is fun. just keep the bugspray close and be social.
- Go with the flow and do not be a whiney picky, icky girl relax and enjoy do not scream about bugs and do not whine about being dirty.
- If you are only going for a few days, pack a backpack with clothes & don't forget the marshmellows. I love camping. Nothing is more relaxing, especially with someone you care about.
- Make sure you have the right clothes something warm for the evening forget about the high heels and the hair straightener, camping is a time to relax.
- Here's a few hints: -Bring tennis shoes, more socks than you think you need, . and 1 pair of old flip flops. No heels, no platforms. -Bring clothes you can move in. Tight jeans, short shorts, and miniskirts are not good options. Neither are tank tops (too much sunburn potential) or t shirts that are uncomfortable to sweat in. Don't even try to wear white, unless it's an old shirt or you're on your way home. A bathing suit might be a good idea for showers (may or may not have working curtains) and dips in the lake/beach. -You will need long pants for the evening to keep the bugs off of you. Bring a long sleeved shirt and light jacket, too. -Don't forget bug spray, SPF 30, batteries, ponytail holders and a decent flashlight. -Leave your hair dryer and other appliances at home. A battery powered radio might be nice for the campfire. -Bring an extra change of clothes for the ride home, that can also be used in case something gets too wet/dirty to wear. -Ask him if you can help him air out the tent before you leave. That way, you have a crash course in setting up and breaking down the tent, and you can be more helpful in actual camping. -Cooking while camping is not easy; nor is it similar to cooking any other way (not even grilling!). Be patient, cook slowly, and make friends with hot dogs on a stick. -The things that tend to really irritate people while camping are wearing shoes into the tent and not zipping up the tent all the way as fast as humanly possible. My fiancee is a nut about this, but he has a point--no one wants to sleep with dirt and bugs! Best of luck!
- Bring plenty of insect repellant, suntan oil and white socks. You'll do fine. Wear close toed shoes, preferably hiking boots if you'll be walking any distance. Oh, yeah forgot the most important thing. Plenty of water. Get a camel from an outdoor store. There are plenty of choices. My favorite is a pair of 1 liter jugs that fit on a hip belt. Oh, almost forgot. And bring along a first aid kit. Have a Good time in the woods with Smokey.
