Camping Out Ideas

Whats your idea of camping?

Do you use an RV, do you go deep woods camping like backpacking, do you stay in a ten in a state park? My Idea is either a backpacking trip or some other trip where you rough it.

  1. Camping doesn't necessarily involve backpacking, but it certainly doesn't involve an RV. That's RV-ing, which I wouldn't be caught dead doing. I like backpacking into the mountains and camping away from other people, and hopefully where no bears bother to come.
  2. To me, camping HAS to involve a tent and sleeping bag whether it be backpacking, primitive camping or staying in a campground whether state or privately ran. Staying in a cabin at a campground is just that, a vacation in a cabin.......not even close to "camping". And, staying in any type of a RV (popup, travel trailer, motorhome or any class of RV) is like taking home with you. Camping is about roughing it a little or a lot, becoming one with nature as much as possible, peace and serenity. NOT firing up the generator or plugging in the electrical cord because you want to watch the TV or run the AC.
  3. I like to rough it. I have gone camping in the winter time. That was a 2 week test of adaptability.
  4. an ice chest, a grate to cook on over the campfire, a tent. sitting around the campfire at night listening to the sounds of nature and getting lost int he awesomeness of the constellations... thats camping
  5. i like to camp out .that is out side my normal living style .i can camp out on a friends couch or in my own back yard ,i can camp in a park or a beach .in a tent or in a trailer it matter not to me
  6. It depends on who I go with. I have an 11 year old daughter. With her it is “car-camping” with day hikes. I have a girlfriend who hates sleeping on the ground. With her it is a lodge with a great view, a well prepared breakfast, and a day hike or canoe trip. When running solo I like to be tested. It is a daypack with no tent, a lightweight sleeping bag and minimal supplies – I live off the land- so to speak. My favorite would be with a group of friends – full on back-country backpacking for a week or more. I love being outdoors, and I love the challenge it can be at times. It gives me a greater appreciation for my bed, and my own home.
  7. i like backpacking . we like to go out have a hike for some days ,,, and at the end of the day we set our camp and have fun with my friends
  8. My idea of camping is NOT with RVs. That's just not right. i like camping at camp sites adn state parks kinda thing. Also backpacking. But when i heard the word, camping, i think of like other camp site round you and bonfires and tents all around, and you can see the other peoples fires in the distance. but i cant wait to go backpacking this summer on the appalachian trail for like a week.
  9. Camping has levels in my opinion, level 1 is car camping where you drive in, pitch a tent, and thats about all, level 2 is some moderate hiking to the site, level 3 is a couple of days of backpacking, and level 4 is long term hardcore hiking. RVing is not camping, as you are driving in a mobil house. Every level is cool, but level 4 camping gives you the most stories to tell, plus it makes you tougher then everyone else.
  10. Tent camping in State Parks/Forests and backpacking. I hate RV and Drive-Up campsites. Too loud, too many people. Gotta get out in the woods and put a lot of space between myself and regular people. The only RV I stay in sits on my mom's small plot of land up north and never moves. It's more of a home away from home for us.
