- You could make kabobs with chicken or steak. You could also make grilled chicken with grilled potatoes on the grill. Surprisingly pizza can also be made on the grill. Hope this helps.
- tRY BRATWURST -- it's easy like hotdogs (you can tell picky eaters they're german hotdogs) they are served with mustard and you can use several diff. mustards!!! Dont poke holes in brats or you'll lose the flavors!!! Kids seem to love them (most kids) my grandson tried his first one at age 3 and loved it -- I have a photo with him taking his first bite !!! We are in FLA too, btw ! We live in Naples! I think you could spice up those burgers with lipton soup mix and make them great !! I just cant think of anything else, except perhaps a sliced ham with mustard sandwiches. I always carry mayo in our cooler so I dont spread it on til we eat. Have fun !!!
- Try a large fry pan, butter, canned chili, cheese, onions, corn chips and so forth, and bread. Use whatever you like on chili as toppers. Butter the bread put a slice of cheese on the bread then some chili in the middle, leave the sides clear. Add the topper then put another buttered slice on top with the buttered sides facing upwards. Fry the sandwhich pressing ever so slightly to secure the slices together. Like you would a grilled cheese sandwhich. Remove from the pan, cool slightly and serve. You can add salsa to the chili sandwhich for dipping if the boys like. Good Luck! Yummy! :)
- Try cooking a big pot of spaghetti - with plain sauce (cause kids are picky). Then, have a spaghetti eating contest with the kids eating without using their hands - lots of fun and everybody will love it.
- Grilled chicken with freezer fries. You can grill the chicken and cut them into strips, and heat up and fry the frys! Yummy cookout idea!
- Make Frito Chili packets. Get a bulk container of individual packages of Fritos, like from Costco or Sams Club. Take along a heavy-duty zip loc bag of chili. Have a pkg of grated cheese as well and some plastic spoons. Heat the chili. Give each boy a bag of open Fritos, spoon the chili over the Fritos, top with cheese. No bowl needed. Every college student knows this snack. It is cheap, nutritious, fun, and delicious!

- We run overnight river trips for large groups, including scouts, throughout the summer time. Pastas are very easy to make, and always taste great after a long day in the wilderness. Steak and fish are also great, and easy to prepare. Chicken requires a little more time and finesse. If you want to get real fancy, then buy a couple of large dutch ovens. They are very easy to use and the meals are straight forward and always good. There are allot of cook books associated with dutch oven cooking that will give you some fantastic ideas! I always look forward to river season as I eat better on river trips than I do at home! If you would like more detailed information follow the link below and feel free to contact me via email and I can send you some more links and information that will ultimately leave your scouts in awe with your newly found wilderness cooking skills! Happy Trails!
