- Camp Interlocken in New Hampshire. My son went there for 5 summers and he adored it. They helped him become more independent and taught him how to swim, how to get along better with others (he's an only child) and for 4 weeks every summer he just had FUN. No cell phone, ipods or other electronic gadgets allowed and the food is great. I used to wish I could go. LOL
- If you're looking for a summer camp try this one: Camp Widjiwagan (wi-jee-woh-gin) It is a YMCA summer camp, it has been voted #1 day camp for 7 years in a row, it is a big wooded forest area and owns part of percy priest lake is completely outdoors except 2 air conditioned buildings #1: clinic/counselor lounge/work area for uncounselors (campers not alowed in there unless sick, meeting parents, leaving, things like that #2: gymnastics area (for the adventure series) or place of refuge for VERY serious storm. the camp also has water slide, pool, bannana boat, lake, alpine tower, obstacle course, rope swing, bathhouse, chapel, archery, horse back riding, basketball court, adventure series' in the morning (which includes all sports), tennis court, volley ball court, soccer field, ect. THIS CAMP IS ALSO BECOMING A NIGHT CAMP IN 2008. They also have leadership skills. the reason they named it camp Widjiwagan is because Widjiwagan is the indian word for friendship. If you want to start your own camp: try scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, MONEY SAVING TIP: for snack serve cereal!, also try going to nearby parks, school playgrounds, stables, zoos (try all with permission)
