- I'm sure there are tons of camping in your part of Texas...just look it up yourself and find some state parks.
- don't listen to those morons if your going bass fishing look in the phone book for campgrounds or a statepark
- If you are looking for something out of the ordinary with a touch of adventure outside of Texas. Allow me to suggest a guided float tube fishing trip in the mountains of Southwest Pennsylvania. We concentrate primarily on Bass, Pike, Muskie. www.acmedamfishing.com
- Probablee at a Lake or something.
- A great trip for you would be Northeast Oklahoma, specifically the Illinois River east of Tahlequah. There are multiple campgrounds, no charge, that have grills, outdoor bathrooms, and supplies close by the camp grounds. The Illinois has large mouth(black bass), smallmouth/kentucky bass, channel catfish, perch, drum, you never know what you will catch. You can seine for helgramites(larval stage of dragonfly), buy crayfish or use artificial lures that resemble a crayfish, the newer salt craw baits with a small jig head work well also. There are places to use a small fly rod, but ultralite spinning gear is best. The Illinois has its headwaters in Arkansas and many springs along the way. If you have a canoe or kayak, bring it. If not, wait til Memorial Day and rent a canoe, kayak, or a rubber raft. Try to go during the week as the weekends are loaded with partiers. By the way, Austin is about 7-8 hours from Tahlequah.
