Recommend Winter Camping (RV) locations in Galveston/Houston Area?

We are camping in our RV in the Galveston/Houston area over the holidays this year. While we have reservations at the State Park, we will not be staying there the whole time. We do not mind paying a lot per evening, cost is not a major factor. Does anyone have any good recommendations for places to stay? And, as a bonus, any recommendations for sights to see?

  1. Since you have no recommendations after 3 days, I thought I'd recommend some research web sites so you can make an informed decision. Everyone has a different idea of what makes a great RV park, resort, or campground...pick and choose for yourself. http://rvparkreviews.com/regions/Texas/Houston.html has numerous RV parks and resorts that have been reviewed by previous guests. In my experience, the reviews are accurate and up to date. Reviews of nearby towns such as Galveston are easily found from the above URI http://www.rv-camping.org/TexasRVParks.html has links to several web sites listing private RV parks in Texas. Each site is listed by region or town. http://www.traveltex.com/CityBrowse.aspx?ST=1&PP=1&SS=Houston is the Texas Tourism web site and starts with 2 listings for Houston that expand to list the areas best attractions. http://www.rv-camping.org/Texas.html may be of use to you for finding every Texas public campground.
