If you only wanted an RV for summer camping use, would you buy it or rent it?
I think I'd rather rent, and not need to worry about it sitting idle all the months it's not being used. (I live in a place where many people and companies do rent them out during the summer).

- Rent at first. I know a lot of people that bought them and didn't use them. Then had to sell them.
- I'd definitely rent it. I know several people that have bought them then have these insurance payments, monthly installments, etc. but hardly use the RV or don't use it, it sits idle, and in the end they sell it for much, much less than they paid for it. Definitely rent it.
- If you already think you'd rather rent, you may have your answer, but these are a few other things to consider. Do you have previous experience with RVs? How expensive are these rentals and how often will you be renting one during the summer? Is there also a chance you will decide to go camping during the spring and fall, too? Chances are, if you haven't used an RV before, you should start out renting or borrowing one for the first time or two before you invest in the purchase of an RV. We found rentals to be very expensive, so we started out by buying an older, smaller model, that way we didn't sink too much money into something we might not use a lot. But, then we did use it often and soon became 'full-timers' (moved into our RV) and we upgraded to a bigger, newer motor home. Good luck & happy camping!
- I think I would also rent, unless I was retired and intended to spend a few years on the road. The US would take years to see, so I would want to be comfortable as I travelled. Recently I saw some photos of a unit, that even had room for a car to park inside/under. It might set you back a million or tho but buy one for your buddies and we could travel in style, visiting other Y!A contacts. I have woken up now and have written a dream. LoL
- you left out steal it. "The" :)
- With the cost of fuel, I'm getting a new tent!
