Camping Recipes?

I'm looking for simple, unique camping recipes. Perhaps something I can just throw into some foil and cook over the fire. Whatever. I'm tired of the usual things we make. Thanks fellow campers for your suggestions....

  2. Try frying bacon in a pan and then putting canned biscuits in the grease. They're delicious!
  3. There is a website called ABC distributing and they have a set of 3 camping cookbooks on sale there for like three or four dollars. That is really cheap, and I buy from ABC all the time, so I know they are credible. Good luck, and have fun camping.
  4. You could make packets - they can even be personalized. You toss in some ground chuck, shredded potatoes, mushroom slices, drained canned corn, chopped green peppers etc. Then you add butter or margarine to the top along with seasonings. Wrap in multiple layers of foil and use a permanent marker to put each person's name on. Place them on the coals of a fire, not right in the flames or it won't work. Give it 7-8 minutes on one side then flip to the other. Make sure the meat is completely cooked before eating.
  5. I use this website alot for ideas before I go camping: http://camping.about.com/cs/campingrecipelinks/a/recipes001.htm My favorite recipe for breakfast is making your own breakfast burritos or omelette in a ziplock bag, more of those kind of recipes here: http://www.mcg.net/nelson/campfood.htm
  6. One of our favourite recipes is really good and really easy. You cut up potatoes in 1" cubes, add about 2 tablespoons butter, 3 strips cooked bacon, crumbled, 2 green onions, chopped, and salt and pepper to tasted. You put everything but the cheese into the foil and cook until potatoes are tender. Add cheese last few minutes of cooking. This also helps to use some of the things you may have had for breakfast.
  7. We have a cast iron kettle that we just throw everything into. We chop our potatoes and onions, throw in whatever meat we want, sausage or hamburger or chicken... and whatever veggies you want.
