  1. "Fish Soup" - Can of Tuna or other "canned fish" and as much water as you need to make it thick or thin, depends on your preference. Add a little bit of spaghetti or macaroni, and by the time the pasta is done, the soup is done.
  2. Ohh my favorite cuisine............ We call these foil packs, my favorite! But not great for real backpacking. They have a lot of ingredients and it gets heavy to pack too far. ingredients; 2 carrots, sliced 6-8 new potatoes, quartered 1/2 onion, lg. chunks 2 shallots, sliced 2-3 cloves garlic, lg. chunks 8-10 cremini mushrooms whole or halved 1 pkt. frozen Boca ground "meat" 2-4 Tbs. olive oil 2 Tbs. margarine, optional salt & pepper, to taste season salt, dash to prepare; 1. Mix all sliced vegetables in a bowl. 2. Make 2 pockets with heavy duty aluminum foil, doubled. 3. Place a layer of vegetables on bottom. 4. Layer Boca ground "meat" next. 5. Add a final layer of veggies. 6. Pour 1-2 Tbs. of olive oil on each dinner, dot with margarine, if using. 7. Season with salt, pepper, and season salt. 8. Fold foil to make an airtight seal. 9. Cook on hot coals for fifteen minutes, flipping half-way through. 10. Serve with ketchup, enjoy! Of course you can substitute the boca burger for real hamburger. But I wouldn't be true to myself if I gave you anything but a vegan dish. ENJOY!!! Check out this website. They have over 570 recipie ideas for camping.
  3. http://www.camprecipes.com/ There is a whole site dedicated to it suggestion invest in a dutch oven
  4. Bags of Gold is something me and my siblings really like (I was a girl scout for twelve years, as was my sister...my mom was a troop leader...so we used to go camping a lot). Basically, it's dumplings filled with cheese in tomato soup. And I think there's ground beef in there too, if I recall correctly. I haven't had it in a long time. Oh, I found the recipe! It's really simple: just wrap 1/2-inch cubes of cheese in biscuit dough. Drop into boiling tomato soup. Cook with the lid on. Also, cheese fondue is a surprisingly good camping food too. Hope this helps!
  5. I would definately get a cast iron dutch oven for starters and then google recipes for dutch ovens. Our fav is the old "smores" for dessert---have a fun summer!
  6. Fried potatoes and onions, eggs and bacon.
  7. Dude, Fish Soup sounds gross as hell, please don't make that....sorry person that answered with that. Get a big steak and flame it over an open grill.
  8. Vidalia onions- quarter them and stick butter in each slit, wrap in aluminum foil and stick in the coils of your fire. They'll carmelize- sooo good! Pair them with your steaks, stick them on your beans or hot dogs, or eat them plain. They're tasty! Do the same with bananas and some chocolate and you have a tasty dessert!
  9. Hash Brown Patty Pizza 10 Hash Brown Patties 10 Thin Ham Slices (pkg. ham is ok) 10 Thin Sliced Green Pepper Rings 1 can Pizza Sauce 1 pkg Shreaded Pizza Cheese Cooking Spray Or Oil Place a large heavy skillet over medium hot coals. Use cooking spray or oil to coat the pan to keep the hash browns from burning. Fry the hash browns until done, flipping as needed. On each hash brown: spread some pizza sauce, then place a slice of ham, and finally the green pepper ring. Sprinkle the pizza cheese over each one. Cover the pan and remove from the coals. Serve once the cheese has melted. Campfire Chicken Split chicken breast Red potatoes (cut in half) Carrots (cut in half) Onion (cut in half) Plum tomato (cut in half) Place the above ingredients into aluminum foil sheets, make into pocket. You can add some seasonings (I use some balsamic dressing mix). Bake in the oven or over a campfire. You can also add a small piece of corn on the cob. Fresh Fried Trout Fresh Trout (without heads, tails, and fins) 2 c Milk 1/4 c Flour 1/2 c Butter 2 tbsp Lemon Juice 2 tbsp Chopped Parsley Lemon Wedges Salt Black Pepper Season the milk to taste with salt and black pepper. Soak the trout in the mixture for at least 5 mins. Remove the trout from the mixture and thoroughly coat it with flour. Place the skillet on hot coals and melt the butter in it. Place the trout in the skillet and brown each side. Raise the skillet just above the hot coals using 2 sticks of the same size. Sprinkle the trout on both sides with lemon juice and finish cooking it (the trout should flake easily when done - approx 8 mins. depending on the heat of your coals). Sprinkle the trout with the chopped parsley and serve with the lemon wedges on the side. Campfire Fruit Cobbler 1 cup of fruit (cherries or blueberries) 1 white cake mix 1 empty 34.5 ounce coffee can Grease coffee can with butter or margarine. Pour can of fruit into the coffee can. Make cake mix as instructed on the box. Pour the batter into the coffee can on top of the fruit. Cover with aluminum foil and place into the campfire approx. 30 min. When the cake looks done, mix, stirring the fruit up from the bottom. Haystacks 1 lb Butterscotch Chips 2/3 c Peanut Butter 1 can Chow Mein Noodles Place a heavy pan on medium heat coals. Place the butterscotch chips and peanut butter in the pan and melt them together stirring it constantly so as not to be burned. Put the noodles in a large mixing bowl and pour the hot mix over it. Carefully mix the 2 together. drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper and allow to cool.
  10. My family went camping all the time when I was younger now I go with my family of 5. A very easy dinner that takes no time if prep is done at the house before leaving is what we call mushroom stew. MUSHROOM STEW You take 2 lbs of hamburger meat and make patties as you would if you were making hamburgers. 2 small cans of cream of mushroom soup. 5 medium potatoes sliced or diced. 1 large onion diced small. Place your hamburger patty on foil (enough to make a pouch) spoon 2 tbls of the cream of mushroom soup onto the patty place one diced potato on top of the mushroom soup and onion to taste place another 2 tbls of the soup seal it up and freeze it. Continue till all are made. When ready to cook them at the campsite all you need is a grill. Place the pouches onto a hot grill and cook for about 45mins.(gives you time to play while food is cooking). IMPORTANT!!!!! A very good hint to this one is to use a very lean meat(you could even try ground turkey or chicken) so there will not be a lot of burger grease released while cooking(i made this mistake the first time I took my family cooking my mom told me what I had done wrong lol I hope you try this it is an excellent dish and all the sides are in the pouch so no need for anything else except maybe bread for dipping!!!
