- I use this website alot for ideas before I go camping: http://camping.about.com/cs/campingrecip... My favorite recipe for breakfast is making your own breakfast burritos or omelette in a ziplock bag, more of those kind of recipes here:
- Grilled cheese sandwitches, or, if you're ambitious, butter bread, and put pizza sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms and shreaded cheese in them to make grilled pizza sandwitches. They're amazing! Grilled corn on the cob, and pork chops or chicken are good for a dinner also. I'm lazy in the mornings when i go camping, so I usually just grill pop-tarts.
- Easy chicken recipe, 2 ingredients: Boneless, skinless chicken breast Kraft caesar vinaigrette with parmesan salad dressing. Get 10 pieces of chicken, divide them up in zip-lock bags (gallon sizes would be convenient) and pour enough salad dressing in each bag to cover the chicken really well. Cook it over your campfire until it's cooked thoroughly (when you cut it the juice is clear, not pink). As the chicken thaws it will soak up all the flavors in the dressing. When my wife and I did this the first time, the chicken marinaded for a whole day and when it was cooked the taste was AMAZING and we could cut it with our plastic forks it was so tender!!!
- We used to make a camp breakfast, cheese, scrambled eggs, sausage, onions and green peppers and hash browns--brown your sausage and all then add your eggs and cheese and stir with a spatula. Lunch hot dogs or a sandwich, make a mac. salad or potato salad without eggs and put in your cooler. Hearty dinner, wrap some baking potatoes in foil and put in your coals in the fire then do the same with some corn on the cob and make burgers like meatloaf, add pepper and onion and a bit of garlic and brown and cover with ketchup or tomatoe sauce. Used to camp alot and don't know if you have a dutch oven or not--I used one lots of time or made things in advance and froze them and added them to the cooler frozen and then pulled out and warmed---don't forget salt, pepper--T-P a flashlight. - Dinner!! Take a couple of large chickens and put them in tin foil separately wrap them 3 or 4 times. You can place an onion in there too just wrap it up tight ! You have to have a camp fire for this one ! When your wood has burned down and you have lots of coals throw the chickens in then throw more wood on top.Don't worry about burning them the layers of tin foil will protect them! You can do the same things to some potatoes!! You can even place carrots or any kind of vegys you want in with the chicken too!! Use your imagination! When your wood starts to burn back to coals carefully with gloves turn the chicken over and throw on more wood!! Now you have been enjoying your camp fire , talking with friends and your meal is cooking all at the same time !NICE!! You say you have to cook for 10 people you may need another bird or 2 but you can only fit 2 at a time so if your group has another camp fire going yeah baby party time!!OH! make sure your birds are washed they will need the moisture to steam inside the bundles !They will take around an hour and a half to two hours to cook it depends on your fire the hotter the better!! Light lunch !Soup and sandwiches ! Breakfast !Scrambled eggs fried left over baked potatoes you cooked in the fire and bacon or sausages or both !! Yummy!!
- Hobo Dinner INGREDIENTS: * 2 pounds ground beef * 1 medium potato per person * 2 cans corn or any of your favorite vegetables * Lawry's Seasoned Salt * butter * salt and pepper PREPARATION: Make hamburger patties ahead of time at home, then place them in a baggie or wrap in foil, and store them in your cooler. At the campground, tear one sheet of heavy duty foil for each person, about 14 inches long. Place a hamburger patty in center of foil, season with Lawry's, and salt and pepper to taste. Peel potatoes, slice thin or cut into small cubes, and place over meat. Season potatoes too. Add a pat of butter. Place vegetable next to the meat and potatoes. Bring foil ends up and fold over until 2-3 inches from meat, and then fold up each side in the same manner. Place over the fire or grill. After 15 minutes, carefully remove with tongs and open each foil pack being careful because they are full of very hot steam. Cut into hamburger to check for doneness. This can be made at home too. Use a 350 degree oven, place foil packs on a cookie sheet, and bake for 30 minutes. Servings: 4-6 Preparation time: 30 minutes
- A-1 Steak * 1 steak per person, cut of your choice * pinch lemon pepper * pinch garlic * pinch black pepper PREPARATION: With a very hot bed of coals (no or very little flame), lay your seasoned steaks on the grill. Let it cook until the bottom is almost golden, turn, and do the same to the other side. Watch your steak, don't burn it.The trick is to not salt before cooking because this draws moisture to the surface. A dry steak is not good. Turn as many times as necessary to keep from burning until done to your taste. By cooking the outside fast, the juice is sealed in. By turning, you keep from burning the outside until the meat is done to your taste. Oh so good. Enjoy. Servings: as needed Preparation time: 20 minutes
