Camping Out Ideas

1st time camping Shabonna Lake, Illinois?

I'm going camping for my 1st time. I'm going to Shabonna Lake State Park. I will going w/ husband and 2 kids (3 and 8 years old) They have flush toilets and showers but other than that, that's it. I want to know what I should bring and/or where I can find a "camping checklist". I also want to know what the best way to make fire for cooking is.

  2. well looks like the first one pretty much has everything...take a basketball or something small (and wll keep them busy for a bit) the kids can toss around at least while you are getting setting up. I'm sure they can help some but my boyfriends son is 7 and although he means well sometimes it is just easier without. Or even fruit snacks or those sticks&cheese for them to munch on. If you are tent camping take a tarp to put under the tent. it will help keep the moisture out when you are waking up in the morning.
  3. have fun!!!
