Camping Out Ideas

What are some good recipes for a trangia on a camping trip?

My friends and I are going on a camping trip with school, and the three of us are in a group. We need cooking ideas for 3 days, using only a trangia. Also it is a hike so nothing to hard/heavy. Thanks.

  1. You want something no ttoo heavy and quick to cook. Trangia burners only go for so long before you need to refil them (20 to 30 minutes) and if you cn cook your food in that time thats the best. Breakfasts - just go for ceaeals or ceareal bars to save washin gup first thing in the morning Lunch, again go for sandwiches to avoid washing up. You can make a hot drink with either since that is just boiling water. Dinners I would go for a rice or pasta based dish - easy to cook and not heavy. If you are cutting down on weight then avoid tins, and fresh meat for after the 1st night too though pepporoni is OK to add. Pasta nd sauce sachets are good and add bits to them. Look at your favourite meals and see if you can make them just using one pan - it is possible to make loads of things
  2. Pay a visit to http://whiteblaze.net/ for any info you need. This is a site mainly for backpacking and hiking. Many, many good, quick, easy recipes that can become delicious meals in 10 minutes. Be sure to check out the section on freezer-bag cooking.
  3. Take freeze-dried food, only requires boiling water. The site wildernessdining.com is probably the most comprehensive representing many different manufacturers. They usually deliver withing 3 days of an order. When the package says serves 2 it really means 1 hungry person.
  4. You can have pop corn Pasta--light and swells Any soup for sure Beans are good protein--gassy though Look for freeze dried foods to pack
